What is a tabletop roleplaying game?

A ROLEPLAYING GAME (or RPG for short) is a game of the imagination, where you and some friends get together and create fictional characters, then play out their adventures around a tabletop or online. One player takes the role of GAMEMASTER (or GM) and describes the setting and the challenges your characters encounter. The Gamemaster plays the supporting characters and villains in the story and acts as a referee to adjudicate the rules of the game and make sure everything’s handled as fairly as possible.

Your imagination is the only thing limiting the sorts of adventures you can have since you and your friends create the world, the characters, and the stories. It’s like writing your own Valiant comic book but with your characters as the heroes! All the action takes place in your imagination, and the story can go on for as long as you want, with one exciting adventure after another. You can pick up and play the game whenever you want, and stop at any point, like reading the chapters of a graphic novel or saving and putting a video game on hold.

What is Mutants & Masterminds?

Mutants & Masterminds is a roleplaying game system, a set of game rules first published by Green Ronin Publishing in 2002 and developed and refined over the years for superhero roleplaying. Mutants & Masterminds (or M&M for short) is the system that powers Valiant Adventures, providing the Valiant Universe with a time-tested and refined set of game rules. Valiant Adventures makes some modifications to the current (third) edition of the M&M system to customize it to suit the Valiant Universe, but previous players of M&M will find most of the game familiar. You can find out more about Mutants & Masterminds and its current system and products online at mutantsandmasterminds.com.

Does Valiant Adventures have anything to do with Tales of the Valiant from Kobold Press?

No, they are different games that share the word Valiant. Our game is a superhero RPG licensed from Valiant Comics. Tales of the Valiant is Kobold Press’s variant of Fifth Edition D&D, so a different genre entirely. We are all friends and wish Kobold the best.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
